WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Building corporate team spirit while having fun
“No matter how brilliant your mind or strategy, if you’re playing a solo game,
you’ll always lose out to a team.”
Reid Hoffman, American internet entrepreneur, venture capitalist and author; co-founder and executive chairman of LinkedIn
-
The event will be conducted on Zoom
-
Company’s staff members will be assigned in advance to different independent teams, each in its own Zoom breakout room; 3-5 persons per team
-
Each team will access a question sheet via Dropbox comprising 25 clues at the pre-arranged starting time of the event.
-
Clues involve riddles, puzzles and general knowledge questions.
-
Clues are cryptic, obscure, hidden, entertaining and loads of fun
-
Google is required to provide useful info for solving many of the clues
-
Contestants need to formulate the secret code by performing simple alpha-numeric tasks using the answers to the 25 clues. Tasks are listed on the question sheet
-
Finally, contestants need to use Google to interpret what the code represents.
-
There are 3 options for the level of difficulty: "Friendly", "Ugly" and "Wicked" corresponding to "Simple", "Moderate" and "Difficult" respectively.
-
Team strategy is advised. Inter-team alliances for exchanging info during the challenge (via a communication medium of their own choice) should be established prior to the event
-
If a team gets stuck on any clue, they can contact the Code Master for help, but a penalty of +5 minutes will be added to their finishing time
-
Teams will submit their final answer to the Code Master in secret. They will not be aware of the progress of other competitors
-
The team which cracks the code in the shortest time wins the event
-
Winners and runners up (and their final completion times) will be announced in an open zoom session at the end of the pre-arranged allotted time (usually 120 minutes)
